Knowledge of services

Exploring social factors that influence knowledge of palliative care

Dr Jonathan Koffman

The aim of this patient survey was to investigate knowledge and awareness of palliative care and related services among oncology out-patients in north west London. The survey involved face-to face interviews with 252 oncology out-patients at two hospitals. Knowledge of palliative care and related services was fragmented. It was worse among men, black and minority ethnic communities and poor patients.
