Our research focuses on the following:

• Evaluating and improving care for people with cancer, respiratory disease, heart failure, liver, kidney and neurological disorders
• Symptom research - Discovering new ways of controlling common distressing symptoms, including pain, breathlessness, nausea, fatigue and spasticity, and undertaking clinical trials into new treatments
• Measuring outcomes - Developing and implementing robust patient-oriented measures of outcomes in palliative care and rehabilitation
• Living and dying in society - Investigating care for older people, support for caregivers, cultural issues in palliative care and other issues reflecting how the way we live and die is changing
• Needs assessment and policy

The King's Centre for Palliative Care in Neurology is an exciting development that builds on internationally recognised clinical and academic expertise in neurology, palliative care and rehabilitation. The Centre aims to improve the treatment, rehabilitation and care of people affected by long-term and progressive neurological conditions through research and development. QUALYCARE study - for better end of life care

The QUALYCARE study is a pioneering project being carried out with 1,400 people who have recently registered a death.  The study aims to help improve the quality of care provided to people in their last stages of life.  Details can be found in the QUALYCARE study section.
